My name is Farhan Sheikh-Omar. I am running for Lansing City Council At-Large to bring
openness, inclusiveness, and accountability, where decision-making processes are transparent, participatory, and responsive to the needs of all residents.
We've seen many local elected officials choose cruelty over compassion, harm over housing, profit over people, and backroom deals over transparency. Last year, a rental house in Lansing where a toddler died in a fire was not legally registered with the city. There were no working smoke detectors in the house. It was a predictable but preventable tragedy.
I’m running for city council because I believe A Better Lansing is Possible. We may face
challenges along the way, but by being proactive and persistent, we can make progress towards a brighter future for our city. I will work hard and with compassion to ensure we can collectively bridge government to community and improve safety, increase equitable resources and access to housing opportunities.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to earn your vote and most importantly your trust.
